Who should consider photographic enhancement, restoration or reconstruction?  Consider these scenarios...

You have the perfect family portrait, except for that one person
who has his head turned.  However, he is smiling in that other
"take" where everyone else looks bad...

You have the only remaining print of your grandfather and it's
cracked, torn and fading away with each passing year.  Soon it
      will be gone forever...

A close relative has died.  The funeral is in three days and there
is no portrait available.  The family does have some great
snapshots, but the prints are so and all are family group
      photos...

It was once-in-a-lifetime trip, but there isn't a single great photo to
frame.  There is something wrong with each shot!  If only there was
a way to use parts of several photos...

Your prized horse died.  It was a champion!  Yet you never had
that planned portrait done.  Now all you have is snapshots and
you only like one of those, except for the background....

We're sure you can think of other scenarios.  You may just want a good photograph to be a lot better!  However, what you may not realize is how sophisticated and amazing digital restoration and enhancement tools have become!  Call us to discuss your problem.  If you can "dream it", it is very likely possible to the achieve results you had in mind! You really can have a professional fine art photograph or stunning portrait - natural, sharp and vividly colorful - that will last for a lifetime!

Choosing Your Photograph

You'll be amazed to see the remarkable improvement in your old or new photograph when you choose Digital Photo Arts Lab processing!

Unless you provide us with your digital image, we will begin by creating a digital image of your print or film photograph.  This digital processing can be accomplished by scanning your original print or, if possible, by scanning the negative or positive transparency (slide) used to create that print.  We will always be able to achieve the best result using the original negative or slide.

Digital Photo Arts Lab uses professional Nikon scanning to create a 23 Mega Pixel, 4000 dpi professional digital file from your negative or slide.  This state-of-the-art film scanning process uses a 7-element ED Nikon lens and a bright, constant RGB LED light source - sampling the film image 16 times - to assure the highest quality digital reproduction.  If you only have a copy of the printed photograph, our professional photo-quality print scanner will usually provide more-than-adequate detail for your finished image from it's 50 MB 2400 dpi scanned digital file.  Please be advised that the photo finishing process is typically more time-consuming, and expensive, when working from a scanned print since this method creates a digital image with a higher number of imperfections that must be manually removed.

Results You Can Expect

Whatever method used, the image in your finished digital art photograph will...

Be much sharper than in your old photograph, and, if the original was created   with a good quality lens and accurate focus, the clarity in your new photograph may even appear 3-dimensional!

Have colors that are more vivid than could ever be achieved with chemical       darkroom processes.

Last a life time and become a treasured "look into the past" for your future generations!

The Photoshop CS6 Advantage

To assure that your photograph is processed to professional standards and quality, Digital Photo Arts Lab uses the most recent version of Adobe Photoshop - Creative Suite 6. This software is the professional image-editing standard and the CS6 version offers new groundbreaking creative tools that will guarantee the best possible results for your important image.

Photographs selected for processing by Digital Photo Arts Lab should be limited to prints, transparency slides or negatives that you would like to frame and display, or those which you have chosen to place in your family photo archive to be passed on to future generations. We will be happy to evaluate your chosen photograph and discuss with you the possible choices for a final print. As an alternative, consider creating a new image.  We will be happy to help you digitally capture your loved ones at a family event or in a planned photo session.

What, Exactly, is Possible?

Some Real Life Scenarios

Consider some of the possibilities...

Scenario 1:  She was your favorite horse - a champion - but you never got around to having a good portrait made of her. When she died unexpectedly, there was only one decent snapshot you could find.  Still, the 4x6 print seems washed out, a little blurred and the background is a big problem!  Click on thumbnail pictures on the right to see our custom photo lab solution!

Scenario 2:  It was the trip of a lifetime - off to the Far East to hunt the largest Bighorn Sheep in the world!  Finally success and the guide did his best to capture the moment. However, the shot could have been framed better and then there was all that blood that would guarantee it couldn't be framed and displayed.  Click on thumbnail pictures on the right to see our custom photo lab solution!

Scenario 3:  You knew that you had a lucky shot of those Day Lilies in the backyard.  Then you got the disappointing 4x6 print back from the one hour photo!  The lilies were perfect, but the colors were washed-out and the background and other foliage were distracting. Now you've lost the negative Click on thumbnail pictures on the right to see our custom photo lab solution!

Scenario 4:  A portrait is needed for an important family event in just two days!  Only old snapshots are available. The quality of the only good one is poor. The color is way off and the subject format is complex.  Click on thumbnail pictures on the right to see our custom photo lab solution!

Scenario 5:  You have that great digital shot of field of tulips for your arboretum visit. A little washed out and a little flawed, it just isn't quite ready for framing.  Besides the color is all wrong for that perfect spot you've chosen to display it. Click on thumbnail pictures on the right to see our custom photo lab solution!

Scenario 6:  You have a treasured wedding photo of your parents.  It has deteriorated over time, been damaged by cutting and scratches, and now it is so fragile you no longer dare to have it on display.  You've thought about how great it would be if it could be refurbished and back in a frame.  Click on thumbnail pictures on the right to see our custom photo lab solution!
